Clinical Director/Founder

Mary is the Founder and Clinical Director of Pure Progression Music Therapy. She received a Master of Arts Degree in Music Therapy from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and Bachelor of Science degree in Music Therapy from Utah State University. Mary is active in the music therapy community and served as a board member of the Utah Music Therapy Association for several years. Mary has worked with a variety of populations and specializes in working with adolescents with mental health needs and children with developmental delays. She is experienced in American Sign Language, enjoys songwriting and keeping current with music therapy research. Mary is committed to providing the most successful music therapy experience possible and truly believes music can reach those who otherwise could not be reached.

Jeff is the Executive Director of Pure Progression Music Therapy. He received a Master of Business Administration Degree from the Jon. M. Huntsman School of Business and bachelor’s degree in International Business from Utah State University. He has an extensive background in Healthcare Analytics and has worked in various roles including business development, sales, and finance. Jeff loves being part of a growing organization and is passionate about music therapy and the change it can affect in people’s lives.

Laura graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Therapy. She completed an internship at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Her internship focused on working with individuals who had suffered traumatic brain injuries, strokes, spinal cord injuries, and other diagnoses in helping them work toward regaining their abilities to complete everyday tasks. These experiences were enhanced as she had the opportunity to co-treat with other physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Laura enjoys spending her free time with family, friends, and working on various projects.

Carly Hoffman

Carly graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Therapy. She completed a 6-month internship at TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston, Texas, one of the highest-ranked rehabilitation hospitals in the country. While there, she worked with patients who had suffered brain injuries in helping them work towards regaining life skills and she gained a lot of experience co-treating with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists. After becoming board-certified in 2018, she has been working primarily with children who have special needs and with brain injury survivors. She enjoys spending time with family and working on various hobbies in her free time.

Monica graduated Summa Cum Laude from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy and a double minor in Psychology and Japanese. She completed a six-month internship at Oregon State Hospital in Salem, Oregon, working with adults with psychiatric and mental-health needs. She has loved working with a variety of populations over the course of her career, including geriatrics with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, children exposed to domestic violence, and adults facing crises and mental health diagnoses.

Jared Campbell

Jared graduated Magna Cum Laude from Utah State University with a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy and a minor in Psychology. He completed a six month internship at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, working with infants-young adults with various diagnoses and needs. He has worked with a variety of populations, and currently works with at-risk teenagers, patients with mental illness, and adults in recovery for addiction and trauma. In his free time, Jared enjoys performing in theater, spending time with friends, and reading.

Karli graduated Cum Laude from Utah State University with a degree in Music Therapy in 2015. She also earned a minor in Psychology. She completed a nine-month internship at Hartvigsen School where she worked with children and adolescents diagnosed with a variety of special needs. Karli loves working with the early childhood population and is always amazed by their energy and enthusiasm for music. Spending time with her family and soaking up sunshine are two of the activities that Karli enjoys most in life!

Mandee Lawson is a Board Certified Music Therapist working in Utah and Salt Lake County. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Music Therapy from Utah State University with a minor in Human and Family Development. She completed an internship and Board Certification in 2022 to begin working as a music therapist. Mandee focuses on interpersonal relationships and utilizes music therapy to foster well-being and opportunity for an individual to reach their optimal potential through shared experiences in music.

Sophia Harper-Hague

Sophia Harper-Hague graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Music Therapy. She completed clinical internship at the St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center in St. Louis Missouri working with adults who had been deemed incompetent to stand trial in the state of Missouri. Sophia is currently completing a Master’s of Mental Health Counseling and Music Therapy at Lesley University in Cambridge Massachusetts. Sophia has long been a member of various orchestras as a cellist, and loves to play piano as a way to relax. Outside of music, Sophia enjoys rock climbing, crocheting, and caring deeply for her sourdough starter.
