A session structure is one of an arch shape. It has a music enclosure which allows for structure to correctly orient the client into the therapeutic experience. Music therapy uses a three-way relationship between the client, therapist, and music. It begins with a hello song or check in to welcome in the clients and orient the mood. It then transitions to the interventions where goals and objectives are addressed. These can be accomplished through experientials such as song writing, improvisation, lyric analysis, listening, and relaxation. The session is concluded with a goodbye song or session wrap up to leave the clients with some sort of conclusion. At this stage the clients should be in a higher/better place than the beginning of the session.
